No money lost to fraudsters, Family Bank says

Family Bank now says an attempt to steal money from its accounts was blocked and no customers were affected.

In a statement to newsrooms on Friday, the bank said the illegal transactions were detected on a few accounts.

“These were promptly blocked by our secure I.T. system. After swift internal investigation by our team, we were quickly able to identify (the) perpetrators,” acting MD and Chief Financial Officer Charles Njuguna said.

He revealed that the suspects were then reported to the police, arrested and later arraigned in court.

The statement comes a day after claims emerged that two banks; Chase and Family may have lost Ksh.300million to fraudsters.
