No more travelling! Court tells Solai dam owner over India trip

A court has banned Perry Mansukh, the owner of Solai Dam, from flying out of the country a month after another judge granted his request to travel to India.

On Thursday, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said Mansukh will have to wait until an application involving the Solai Dam case is determined.

“High Court in Narok stops Perry Mansukh one of accused in Solai dam tragedy from flying out of country until application by @ODPP_KE to transfer case from Naivasha to Nairobi due to interference with scene & witnesses is heard and determined,” the ODPP said on Twitter.

The ruling comes after Mansukh requested to travel out of the country for a second time.

It is alleged that he had even made travel arrangements ahead of the decision thinking that the court would again rule in his favour.

However, the Narok court dealt him a huge blow after issuing the directive stopping his travel.

In August, Mansukh pleaded with a Naivasha Court to be allowed to travel to India to attend a child custody hearing involving his wife.

He claimed he risked losing custody if he did not appear in person.

The court granted his plea and he obtained travel documents which he had surrendered in court after he was charged over the Solai Dam tragedy.

Naivasha Principal Magistrate Joseph Karanja however ordered him to return the document by 10am on August 15.

On July 5, Perry Manusukh was charged of manslaughter after his Solai Dam collapsed killing 47 people in Nakuru.
