No political posters at Afraha prayer rally, leaders warned

No political posters will be allowed inside Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on the forthcoming Saturday’s prayer day, Nakuru leaders have resolved.

Speaking during a pre prayer meeting held in Nakuru, the leaders affirmed that the prayer meeting would be a platform for fostering national unity and not a stage for gaining political mileage

The prayer meeting, which is a thanksgiving ceremony, comes after the case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang were dismissed by the International Criminal Court after the two won a no case to answer motion filed at the court.

The ICC judges last Tuesday declared a mistrial in the crimes against humanity case involving Mr Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang, the last of the decisions that also saw Mr Kenyatta, former police commissioner Hussein Ali, former head of public service Francis Muthaura and Henry Kosgey, a former Cabinet minister walk free previously.

The prayer meeting is set to attract leaders from across the political divide, among them the president Uhuru Kenyatta.

While in Germany on Friday, the president said that the service would be an opportunity for all Kenyans to pray for healing, reconciliation and unity of Kenya.

The leaders said all arrangements are in place ahead of the meeting and that all leaders will be accorded respect despite their political stands.
