Trust Kenyans to go overboard when they pick up their detective hat. As the hunt for the mysterious eyewitness gathers steam, anyone who is seen wearing dark bluetooth sunglasses is now a “suspect.”

First suspect is Colonel Ranka, the bespectacled man who is always with President Uhuru Kenyatta. An image of Ranka seated behind the president at the All Saints Cathedral this past Sunday has gone viral and many are falling for the bait.

Colonel Ranka is the lead bodyguard who is in-charge of the presidential security’s “first ring”.

The image and connection to the president have led to people saying he is a “sniper” and that is how he always ends up at the scene of high profile accidents like the Lake Nakuru chopper crash which killed 5 and the Tuesday morning road accident that claimed the life of Nyeri Governor Dr. Wahome Gakuru.

So direct your conspiracy theories in another direction as this one has failed the “smell test.”

Dennis Muigai Ngengi, in Nakuru, claimed to be a “state pilot” but our State House sources have denied ever seeing him or his being a pilot.
