Notorious fraudster masquerading as DCI detective arrested

A man suspected to have been masquerading as a Kilifi-based detective from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been arrested.

Henry Kibet Korir, whom police now describe as a “notorious fraudster”, was arrested on Tuesday at Mutomo in Kitui County.

The suspect reportedly stole a mobile phone on August 7, 2018 and transferred Ksh.195,000 from the victim’s bank account to his M-Pesa account.

Korir also allegedly stole another mobile phone from another victim on January 17, 2019, and transferred Ksh.109,000 from their bank account to his M-Pesa account.

Further investigations have since revealed that the suspect has a pending case at the Machakos Law Courts where a warrant of arrest was issued after he failed to appear.
