Now prosecution wants Obado charged with murder of Sharon’s baby

Migori Governor Okoth Obado could also be charged with the murder of the unborn infant Sharon Otieno was carrying when she was brutally killed.

On Tuesday, the prosecution said it will amend the charge sheet and add a charge of murdering the seventh-month unborn baby, which DNA tests confirmed was Governor Obado’s.

State lawyer Alexander Muteti told the court that life begins at conception, hence, the infant’s life was also cut short during the gruesome murder. The infant has since been buried.

A post-mortem conducted by government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor revealed that Sharon, who was student at Rongo University, was stabbed eight times and died from excessive bleeding.

Dr. Oduor also confirmed reports from homicide detectives that the unborn baby also had stab wounds.

“Sharon was stabbed three times on the neck, four times on the back and on the left side of the abdomen,” he told journalists after concluding the autopsy on Friday.

Dr. Oduor further noted that she had several other bruises indicating there was a struggle before she was killed.

On Monday, Governor Obado was charged with the murder of Sharon Otieno, a count to which he pleaded not guilty.
