NTSA offers drivers free medical checkups

Drivers across the country will have a chance to receive a free medical checkup while driving along major roads in the country, thanks to a project launched by National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

NTSA director general Francis Meja said the authority said drivers will be able to check their diabetes, blood pressure, weight and eyesight at the medical camps.

Speaking at Kiamba, Kikuyu Constituency along the Nairobi – Nakuru highway where the medical camp was setup, Meja stated that NTSA has partnered with doctors in the country, to offer the service.

According to Meja, the exercise will target public service vehicles, commercial vehicles and private cars.

The NTSA boss expects the exercise to continue to December, as the authority cracks down on un-roadworthy vehicles during the festive season.

NTSA also launched it mobile application to assist in real time road safety measures and reporting on careless driving.
