NTSA parades traffic offenders along the Highway

The National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) ongoing crackdown on rogue motorists over the festive season moved to the Sanchangwan black spot on the busy Nairobi-Eldoret Highway.

The Sanchangwan operation that targeted minor traffic rules offenders took an interested twist from the norm where culprits where forced to brandish a placard bearing the message “Kindly observe lane discipline, Don’t be like me” for between 10 minutes and one hour with an option of being taken to court for contravening traffic rules.

NTSA Senior Deputy Director for ICT, Fernando Wangila, said that the operation was aimed at sensitising road users on the importance of adhering to traffic rules.

More than 50 motorists, including former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya, were nabbed in the operation.

Wangila added that the operations was indiscriminative noting that road accidents affect Kenyans from all walks of life.

Motorists plying the route commended NTSA for the innovative way of reminding road users to keep safe.
