NTSA summons Tahmeed Coach officials over reports of near fatal crashes

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has summoned officials of Tahmeed Coach Limited over the company’s safety record.

The authority, in a statement released Sunday, said the summon was occasioned by public complaints and reports of near fatal crashes.

“We urge members of the public to report motorists endangering the lives of passengers or other road users to the nearest Police station or NTSA offices,” said NTSA Director General George Njao.

Tahmeed Coach Limited officials are expected to appear before the authority on Monday.

NTSA only last week suspended the operational licence of Modern Coast bus following an accident in which 7 people died and 62 others were injured.

The accident occurred when two Modern Coast buses collided at Kiongwani area on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

“The company’s access to the NTSA portal has been deactivated to limit any activities on their 88 vehicles, as the investigation continues,” read the statement.
