NTSA suspends two more matatu operators

NTSA suspends two more matatu operators

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended operating licenses for 2 more public service vehicle companies.

The two; North Rift and Umeria have now had their licenses withdrawn indefinitely.

This comes amidst strike threats by matatus operators in Nairobi to go on strike after NTSA issued a similar suspension paralyzing Embassava matatus following an accident involving a bus operated by the Sacco along Jogoo Road on Thursday last week which claimed the lives of two people and injured several others.

The operators are now protesting the blanket suspension of Saccos when one of the vehicles commits an offence terming it as unfair and harsh.

In a quick rejoinder, NTSA Road Safety Director Mathew Munyao defended the regulator saying that Saccos should ensure all their vehicles and staff comply with traffic rules if they do not want suspensions.
