NTSA targets motorbike dealers in safety crackdown

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has now put motorbike dealers and sellers on notice over their continued failure to supply two helmets and two reflector jackets to boda boda riders.

According NTSA Director of Road Safety John Muya, a high number of dealers have been selling only one helmet and reflector jacket to riders – something that he says is unlawful.

Speaking at Githurai 45 area, Muya said that they will be on the lookout for the dealers who are not complying with the set regulations.

Muya noted that this will help reduce the number of boda boda fatalities –  which stands at 23 percent, according to the NTSA boss.

Muya further challenged riders to comply with the rules, urging them to assist authorities in identifying dealers who are not complying with the set rules, saying their dealer license will be suspended.
