NTSA warns drivers with fancy licence plates
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has sounded warning to Kenyans using customized number plates not issued by the Authority.
In a public notice issued on Monday, the Authority noted with concern that ‘there is a widespread violation of Rule 5 (a) of the Traffic (Registration Plates) Rules 2016’
The rule forbids civilians from manufacturing or selling reflective registration plate or third registration plate licenses without written consent from the Authority.
The NTSA further noted that some plates being used by some motorists are not of the ‘prescribed design’ to section 12 (1) of the Traffic Act.
At the same time, the Authority noted that newly registered motorbikes were using printed papers indicating the registration as opposed to the required plates.
