Nurse arrested in Kisumu over child theft

Police in Kisumu are holding a nurse at Kondele Police Station who is suspected to have stolen a new born baby.

The nurse was arrested by police on Friday at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu.

A police source at the station who sought anonymity said the nurse had taken the baby for check up at the hospital. However, the hospital management called the police since the suspect had not been known to be expectant.

The management suspected that the new born baby had been stolen and alerted the police. The infant is currently at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The hospital management is yet to give an official statement on the incident.

When Citizen Digital contacted Kondele Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Henry Simiyu, he said he was not in a position to comment on the matter.
