Nurse caught on camera drunk while on duty suspended

Tana River County Health Department on Monday suspended a nurse caught on camera while drunk on duty at Garsen Health Center.

In the video – reportedly captured on Saturday night – the male nurse appears so intoxicated that he is unable to maintain his balance while standing.

At some point the person recording the video is heard telling the nurse to get up from the floor and leave the delivery room where a pregnant woman was giving birth.

The nurse then takes out the latex glove from his left hand, unsteadily rises before another nurse in the room (not seen on video) slightly shoves him and he falls right back on the floor where he stays for the remaining period of the 1:15-minute clip.

Tana River Health CEC Mwanajuma Hiribae has since apologized over the incident and stated that the nurse was kicked out and replaced by another competent one that very night.

While addressing the press at Hola District Hospital, the CEC further warned other errant medical personnel with similar behavior of going to hospitals drunk.
