Nyakach MP Aduma freed on Ksh.3M cash bail

Nyakach MP Joshua Aduma has on been released on Ksh. 3million cash bail.

Appearing before Milimani Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi, the accused denied all the charges levelled against him.

The MP is accused of conspiracy to defraud Nairobi City Council and abuse of office.

He was arrested on Thursday by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers while in Kisumu.

It is alleged that he sanctioned irregular payment of Ksh. 68million when he was the Director of Legal Affairs at City Hall.

During the hearing, the defendant filed an application seeking to have the bail or bond terms reviewed on grounds that he does not hold a passport.

The prosecution however refuted his claims saying that Mr. Aduma has to provide a letter from the Immigration Department confirming the same.

The Immigration Department has also been ordered to bar the accused from traveling outside the country without a court order.
