Nyamira County MCA arrested after disrupting meeting in Kisumu

Drama ensued at a Kisumu hotel on Wednesday afternoon after a Nyamira Member of County Assembly was arrested for disrupting an ongoing meeting held by his colleagues.

The meeting chaired by Deputy Speaker and Bonyamatuta Ward MCA Robinson Mocheche, was in progress until Magwagwa Ward MCA Fred Nyachae Omaiyo stormed the venue at noon.

Mr. Nyachae, who attempted to evict his colleagues form the building, said such meetings held outside the county are a waste of public resources.

According to Mr. Nyachae, several MCAs absconded the meeting which was meant to take place over a 5-day period yet they will still receive their allowances.

He said MCAs pocket Ksh.14,000 per diem and Ksh.10,000 transport allowances each which he termed a waste yet such meetings can be held in Nyamira town.

It took the intervention of a hotel manager who called the police and Mr. Nyachae was arrested and booked at a police station in Kisumu.
