The family of Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo is in shock after an uncle was killed in a fire at their compound on Monday night.

Haron Oange, 80, is said to have succumbed to his injuries after the inferno razed down his house.

Nyaribo also has a house within the same compound.

Nyamira North OCPD Robert Kipsum said the cause of the midnight fire is yet to be established but investigations were underway.

Kipsum further added that the house of the deceased was not connected to electricity so they suspect that the fire could have been caused by a lamp.

The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital.
