Nyamira farmers to get subsidized fertilizers, seeds
Farmers in Nyamira County are set to benefit from subsidized fertilizers and seeds worth Ksh 47 million in the forthcoming planting season.
Speaking during an Agribusiness Trade Fair at Nyansiongo, Governor John Nyagarama said that his government has set aside funds to procure the fertilizer and seeds.
He said that the initiative is well in place for the county government’s commitment to embrace agribusiness.
Nyagarama said that his government has gotten into partnership with USAID-Kenya to hold annual agribusiness trade fair to sensitize farmers.
The theme of this trade fair “Economic empowerment through agribusiness and enterprise development” is in line with the agricultural strategy of the County Government whose aim is; to increase food security, rural house incomes, improve livelihoods and market access for agricultural products in domestic, regional and international markets for the people of Nyamira.
Speaking at the Agribusiness Trade Fair the CEC in charge of Agriculture, Peris Mong’are, said the event will help bring down poverty levels in the county.
