Nyandarau County officials allegedly paid Ksh.14M for ghost conference

Two Nyandarua County officials have been summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)for allegedly paying for a water conference that never took place.

The two; Muthoni Muiya CEC in charge of Trade and his Water counterpart Simon Ng’ang’a are required to appear at the EACC regional offices in Nyeri County to record statements over misappropriation of public funds.

Muiya was expected to appear before the EACC on Monday but failed while Ng’ang’a is expected to appear on Thursday.

The two are being questioned over allegations of paying out Ksh.14 million to suppliers for services in a water conference that never took place in 2018.

According to the EACC regional manager Charles Rasungu, the two are among officials within the county government and suppliers being questioned over the same.

He, however, expressed optimism that the two would show up, saying that in case they present themselves the commission will take further action.
