Nyandarua County to put up Sh500m headquarters

The County Government of Nyandarua is planning to put up an ultra-modern county headquarters in Ol Kalou town that is expected to cost half a billion shillings in this financial year, Governor Daniel Waithaka has said.

The project that is expected to be implemented in collaboration with the National Government is set to begin by December this year, with the national Government contributing 70 per cent of the cost while the County Government of Nyandarua will contribute the remaining 30 per cent.

Announcing the plans Tuesday, Governor Waithaka said that the tendering process was already underway and work for the project would start soon.

He said the multi-million shilling offices would accommodate all the county departments, have and underground car park and a helipad.

The governor was speaking during the launch of the county’s temporary offices as Ol-Kalou.

The move will see all the county staff who have been working from Nyahururu Town and other offices within Ol-Kalou working in the four story building that will be put up.

Waithaka expressed concern that it has been unable to deliver services effectively to the residents since the county did not have a headquarters, adding that the new station will enhance service delivery since all the offices will be situated in one center.

Nyandarua County Speaker lauded the move saying this was a new beginning towards realising the development growth of the county.
