Nyandarua residents deny scrambling for food at DP Rutos Karen home

A section of Nyandarua residents who were accused of scrambling for food at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen home and bringing untold shame to Nyandarua county have denied the allegations.

Speaking to Inooro FM on Monday, the residents instead, accused Kieni MP Kanini Kega of spreading propaganda.

“Nyandarua is not an extension of Kieni, so Kanini Kenga should stop attempting to speak for us because we are capable of expressing ourselves,” Betty Muchina said.

Further, the residents accused DP Ruto’s critics of spinning a tale to discredit him without having the facts on the ground.

“It is a lie, we went there to see the deputy president but did not fight for food, we know those saying that are not even Nyandarua residents, those people are just waging political wars on Ruto,” David Mwangi, a resident said.

On Friday, grapevine on social media was that a meeting by Nyandarua residents at DP Ruto’s home had been halted after the hungry residents descended into fisticuffs during lunch.

Those who claim to have had info on the fight said several people lost their shoes and hair while others had their clothes tattered.

There were also claims that a second group of Nyandarua residents had been locked out of the DP’s home under unclear circumstances.

“We went there to table our grievances on bad roads and lack of electricity, surely, we come from Nyandarua where food is in plenty, why would we fight for food?” Mwangi added
