Nyanza teachers decry frustrations by employer

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) asserts that teachers hailing from Nyanza region are discriminated during job promotions by the employer – Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Awanage Zabalon, the KUPPET Secretary General Nyanza region, says that teachers – like other civil servants – should be promoted based on their individual performance and experience.

He said: “It is worrying to see teachers from Nyanza remaining stagnant in one job position for years   without being promoted to other positions.”

A great number of KUPPET members concurred with Awanage saying that they will be intolerant to discrimination and frustrations and will push for justice for its members.

This follows after a number of teachers from Nyanza region lamented over frustrations faced when trying to get promoted from one job group to another.

The Ministry of Education has been urged to be transparent and impartial in its undertakings to ensure all qualified teachers benefit.
