Nyeri County in Sh250m bid to upgrade roads

The County Government of Nyeri has embarked on a Sh250 million roads upgrading project that will cater for over 200 Nyeri residents.

Speaking to the media during a tour in Nyeri, county the executive in charge of roads, Robert Thuo, said that the project once completed would help farmers deliver their produce to the market on time.

So far we have done 80 percent of roads after awarding contracts to youths and special groups,” he said.

He also reassured residents that they would work with KTDA to ensure that roads in the tea growing zones are made accessible to vehicles delivering produce from tea growing centers to factories.

At the same time, the county government is constructing a multi-million shilling state-of-the-art dental laboratory in a bid to cater for patients from Mount Kenya region.

Speaking after paying an impromptu visit at Nyeri County Referral hospital, Health County Executive Dr Charles Githinji said that the dental department would be refurbished and equipped at a cost of Sh12 million.

The dental department was burnt down in 2014, destroying equipment worth millions of shillings.
