Nyeri county releases Ksh 75M medical supplies

The County Government of Nyeri has released a Ksh 75 million drugs and health commodities to be supplied to its 105 health facilities.

Speaking during the flagging off of the supplies on Thursday, Nyeri Health CEC Dr. Charles Githinji, said that the procuring of drugs at close of financial year was not only timely but tactical move by the county.

Dr Githinji said that the county has in the past suffered drugs shortage in months of July, August and September  due to lack of funds to purchase essential medical supplies resulting to a crisis.

KEMSA Commercial Director Eliud Muriithi, who represented his CEO Dr. John Munyu, defended the Agency against accusations of delayed delivery of any order supplies.

Muriithi said that such delays are not deliberate and are in most cases occasioned by the clients who at times fail to follow the right procedures when ordering for supplies.
