Nyeri Deputy Governor Dr. Caroline Karugu has sued the county Governor Mutahi Kahiga and the County Secretary over alleged withholding of his salary and allowances.

Dr. Karugu, through her lawyer J Harrison Kinyanjui, says she has not received her salary since November 2019 and has also been denied access to her office.

The deputy governor says she has had to spend up to Ksh.442,107 for fuel and spends Ksh.15,000 monthly for her security as she discharges her duties.

Dr. Karugu notes that she took the job and was sworn in as deputy governor on May 4, 2018 and is entitled to a monthly pay of Ksh.685,250.

The court has certified the matter as urgent and will come up for mention on September 16, 2021.
