Nyeri female MCA accuses male colleague of assault

Nyeri County Assembly member Pauline Wanjira has accused one of her colleagues of physically assaulting her in Tanzania.

She claims that Antony Ndagita (Kirimukuyu Ward) attacked her in the company of other MCA’s after a heated verbal exchange.

According to the Magutu Ward representative, Antony punched her on the face and then knocked her onto the floor using a bottle.

In an audio obtained by Citizen TV, Wanjira revealed that this was not the first time Ndagita assaulted her.

The accused man has however denied the offence saying that he did not even travel to Tanzania as is alleged.

This comes even as other claims emerge that he recently removed nominated MCA Beth Nyawira from the chambers for allegedly dressing in skimpy clothes.

Nyeri County Assembly has been plagued with gender battles with a section of male MCAs removing their female colleagues from committee leadership positions.

According to Ms. Nyawira, some male MCA’s are opposed to female leadership and this is the reason behind their removal.

She was speaking during a House sitting meant for debating the appointment of Caroline Karugu as Nyeri Deputy Governor.

The seat fell vacant after her predecessor Mutahi Kahiga became Governor following the death of Wahome Gakuru in a road accident.
