Nyeri leaders clash over residents working in North Eastern Kenya

Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe has clashed with Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega over the fate of Nyeri constituents working in North Eastern region following repeat terror attacks in the area.

The most recent attack, which took place in Mandera, left 14 people dead and 10 hailed from Nyeri.

Speaking at the requiem mass of the 10 victims, Kega urged those still working in the region to return immediately saying that their continued stay would put them at risk of further attacks.

Kagwe differed with him, saying that the solution lay in tightening security in the North-Eastern region. He appealed for more security officers to be sent to troubled area adding that and Garissa University College should be reopened.

North Eastern has witnessed a spate of terror attacks including the Garissa University College which occurred three months ago and left at least 148 people dead, mostly students and consequently its closure.
