A man from Nyeri County has come under the limelight after he was caught allegedly trying to rip off Shabiki Jackpot winner Peter Nyenze Mumo.

The man, identified as David Maina Karimi, reportedly arrived in Kathiani village and asked to be taken to Mr. Mumo’s home claiming he had a message for him from God.

A few of the motorcycle riders in the village got suspicious of his intentions and alerted the police even as others escorted him to the jackpot winner’s home.

On arrival, Karimi is said to have informed Mr. Mumo that God desired of him to give a tithe of 10% of the jackpot winnings and give a further Ksh.5 million to him (Karimi).

Mr. Mumo is reported to have informed fellow villagers who stormed the home baying for the man’s blood but police officers arrived just in time to save him from the mob.

Karimi was arrested and is currently being held at Kathiani Police Station.

Mr. Mumo, who hails from Machakos County, won the life changing Ksh.33 million by betting with Shabiki.com.
