Nyeri MCA dies after collapsing while giving Jamhuri Day speech

A Nyeri MCA died on Tuesday after he collapsed while giving a speech during Jamhuri Day celebrations at Ndunduini Primary School in Mathira, Nyeri.

Peter Weru, the MCA for Ruguru Ward, died while receiving treatment at Outspan Hospital, Nyeri where he had been transferred after receiving emergency treatment at Jamii Medical Centre.

The deceased was a first-time lawmaker and had been elected on a Jubilee Party ticket. Nyeri Governor confirmed the death.

His death comes a month after the county lost its second Governor, Wahome Gakuru, who died in a grisly road accident.
