Nyeri MCAs in trouble following Tuesday’s fist fight
Four members of Nyeri County assembly risk losing their seats, after they were summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following a brawl witnessed on Tuesday.
According to EACC, the four MCA’s will be investigated and might lose their positions if found to have contravened the Leadership and Integrity Act.
The four, (Dedan Kimathi Ward Representative Stephen Mwaniki, Hudson Gicheru from Mukurwe-ini Central Ward, Paul Ngiria from Chinga and Johnson Njoroge from Rugi), were involved in a vicious fight at the assembly on Tuesday.
MCAs supporting the Governor and those pushing for his impeachment clashed after Kiganjo Ward MCA, Baragu Mutahi, attempted to move the motion to eject the Governor from office over what the MCAs term as mismanagement of county resources and alleged abuse of office.
So far only two MCAs out of the four, have recorded statements at the EACC offices in Nyeri County.
