The farmers are reported to have staged a more than twenty kilometers protest in Karatina upto the Mathira East district office.
The farmers accused factory directors of failing to contain costs leading to poor pay.
The farmers now want the entire board at the Kenya Tea Development Agency dissolved for incompetence.
The factory’s unit manager Nelson Mathenge however defended the directors saying they have managed to save over two million shillings in the last one year.
Mathenge further pointed out that the poor pay was as a result of huge overhead costs and poor market prices in the international market which have also been unstable.
