Nyeri teacher arrested for reporting to exam centre drunk

A Nyeri teacher was arrested for allegedly reporting to school drunk.

Mr. Simon Kahiro from St.Peter’s Thunguma Secondary School is also accused of failing to open the school laboratory on time.

He reportedly delayed examinations for Physics practical paper in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) for over two hours.

According to the deputy county commissioner James Chacha, the teacher arrived at the school at around 8:45am drunk.

Chacha further narrated how the teacher could not open the lab forcing the exam team to call in a substitute tutor.

The school informed the authorities and the man was arrested.

He is currently being held at Nyeri Central Police Station.

The exams later kicked off at 11:15am.
