A 30-year-old woman is receiving life saving treatment at the Karatina sub county hospital after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband 17 times during a domestic quarrel.

Peninah Wangechi, a mother of three was stabbed on Tuesday night in a scuffle with her husband Samuel Ndirangu before he stabbed her 17 times inflicting injuries on her back, chest and face.

Speaking from the hospital bed, Wangechi claimed that their marriage has been a rocky one exacerbated by alleged violence from Ndirangu whom she said physically abuses her.

Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Benson Ngari said her condition is stable, adding that though she had bled a lot by the time going to hospital, the knife wounds were fortunately not as deep.

The suspect surrendered to the police and has been remanded at the Karatina Police station for five days as authorities investigate the matter.
