NYS empowerment programme re-launched in Nakuru

The second phase of National Youth Service (NYS) programme was on Friday launched in Nakuru West Sub County with an aim of alleviating poverty in the area.

Speaking during the launch at Kaptembwa Estate, Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama, called on the youth to avoid politicians who are out to incite them into violence and instead focus on nation building by engaging in government–initiated activities such as the NYS empowerment programme.

The ODM lawmaker pointed out that stopping the first phase of the programme was abused by unscrupulous leaders who were out to loot public resources.

“Unlike before when the programme was not properly managed, this time participants’ data has been captured biometrically to ensure transparency,” said Arama.

Arama has at the same time termed CORD’s anti- IEBC protests as shameful saying that they should make use of the constitutionally accepted ways of making changes to IEBC and not leading youths to protests.
