NYS projects stalled due to hurdles- Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta has blamed the stalling of the National Youth Service (NYS) projects in the country to hurdles he has not disclosed.

President Kenyatta who came face to face with opposition calls for the sacking of individuals in his government who have been implicated in graft, however said the projects will be forestalled as soon as the hurdles are done away with.

Kisumu County was one of President Kenyatta’s destinations on Sunday.

Governor Jack Ranguma led several Members of Parliament from the county to welcome the Head of State.

But the President then tackled hard questions on corruption allegations in his government, even admitting that there are hurdles in the NYS that have stalled service delivery.

“Issues have been raised about the NYS projects. Currently we have hurdles in the department and once we go over them the projects will resume,” said President Kenyatta.

Although the President did not disclose the kind of hurdles in NYS, queries have been raised over the loss of about Ksh 800 Million in the department which falls under Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru.

The President then had to tackle head on, opposition calls to have corrupt individuals in his government resign or get fired.

Last week, a motion seeking to impeach CS Waiguru fronted by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter failed to take off, following an evidence hitch.

President Kenyatta reading political intolerance from the opposition.

“Leaders must learn to embrace politics of tolerance and work with government so as to improve the lives of our people,” stated President Kenyatta.

Kenyatta then headed to the North Rift region where he hosted the region’s leadership in a dinner at the Eldoret State lodge.
