NYS scam: PS Omollo back to Langata Womens Prison

Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Lillian Mbogo-Omollo is back to Lang’ata Women’s Prison after investigations proved that her condition did not warrant being in hospital.

Omollo was moved back to Lang’ata Women’s Prison after 15 days in hospital.

She had collapsed hours after being denied bail together with other National Youth Service (NYS) suspects including Director-General Richard Ndubai.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) took Omollo back to prison from the Kenyatta National Hospital where she has been since May 30.

The PS, who is being investigated over the Ksh.9billion NYS corruption allegations, was remanded on Tuesday, May 29.

Her continued stay at the private wing of KNH raised eyebrows with many claiming that she was not sick and it was a ploy to avoid staying in jail.

Sources have claimed that DCI boss George Kinoti does not want to set a precedent.

“Many top officials will be arrested and if the PS is allowed to avoid prison by staying in hospital, then many will use that when they are arrested,” said our source.

A letter from the hospital last week asked that Omollo be excused from attending court sessions.

The medical report, signed by consultant physician Stanley Ngare and presented in court on Thursday, noted that Ms Omollo “is still not stable enough to attend court proceedings and requires continued care in hospital”.
