Obado aide Caspal Obiero charged with murder of Sharon Otieno

Caspal Obiero, who works as a clerk in Migori County, was on Thursday charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

Obiero pleaded not guilty before Lady Justice Jessie Lessit at the Milimani High Court in Nairobi.

The court, however, directed he be detained until October 8, 2018 when his bail application will be heard together with that of his co-accused, Michael Oyamo.

The prosecution is set to oppose Obiero’s bail application.

“There’s a similar application for Michael Oyamo and we wish that these two applications be heard together,” the Prosecution said.

Meanwhile, Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s bail application was denied on Thursday by Judge Jessie Lessit, who ruled that he be detained until October 8.

In her ruling, Justice Lessit noted that the court could not determine Obado’s bail application before all the witness statements are in court.

The three were detained at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
