Obama, Kenyatta To Discuss Counter Terrorism Cooperation

President Obama, who called President Kenyatta to express his and the First Lady’s condolences and those of the American people for the lives lost during the heinous terrorist attack in Garissa, emphasized his support for the government and people of Kenya as they stand united in the face of 'these despicable acts'.

President Obama said Kenya and the US will continue to work together to build a safer and more prosperous future for Kenya and the broader region. 

President Obama was reacting to the Garissa University College attack that left 147 people killed and 104 others injured.

Four terrorists involved in the massacre were killed by security officers.

President Obama will make his first visit to Kenya in July this year in his fourth visit to the African Continent since his election as American President in 2008.

State House and the American Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec in March that Obama will attend the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in the country.

Obama’s visit to Kenya will be the first visit to Kenya by a sitting US president.
