Former U.S. President Barack Obama is headed to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where he will board his private jet and leave for Kisumu.

Obama who arrived in the country on Sunday is expected to land at the Kisumu International Airport where he will be received  by Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o.

CitizenTV’s Laura Otieno reports that there is heavy police presence at the Kisumu Airport.

Sources privy to his itinerary have intimated that Obama will then board a chopper to his father’s ancestral home in Kogelo, Siaya County.

The home in Kogelo is under tight security with area residents and journalists having limited access to the area.

Citizen Digital has also established that Mama Sarah Obama will host her grandson to a private breakfast, after which the two will spend a few more hours together.

Obama and his grandmother will then head to the Sauti Kuu Foundation where he will be the chief guest at the launch of a youth sports center.

The opening ceremony will be televised live on Citizen TV.

During the event, renowned Kenyan musician Eric Wainaina will be performing alongside the Ghetto Classics, a children’s music group from Korogocho, Nairobi.

Dr. Auma Obama, the founder of Sauti Kuu Foundation, recently revealed that the opening of the facility is part of their father’s dream and a project that her brother Barack holds close to his heart.

“Sauti Kuu Foundation is a centre of excellence for children. It has a library, a state of the art sports center and a vocational training place. We are trying to change the mentality of people so that you realize you have options, opportunities and possibilities,” she said.

It is the first facility of its kind in Nyangoma, Kogelo, Siaya County.

Barack Obama will then leave Kogelo and head to South Africa where he will give a speech in honor of the late Nelson Mandela.

He will have visited three African countries after having spent 8 days at the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania last week.
