Obama shares dinner with his Kenyan family

US President Barack Obama on Friday night had dinner with the Kenyan members of his family in what marked a grand re-union for a man who first came to the country in 1988 in search of his roots.

Obama sat down with more than a dozen relatives that included his grandmother Sarah and his half sister Auma Obama at the Villa Rosa Kempiski.

Sandwiched between his grandmother Mama Sarah Obama and his sister Auma, the dinner table was full of not just food but laughter.

This can be seen as a celebration of sorts for a family that has partly walked with President Obama when he first came home in search of his father’s identity.

They are celebrated in his book “Dreams From My Father”, these are the people who walked with him, riding in trains and matatus and telling him stories of his roots.

Obama took with him invaluable lessons from his own personal journey, becoming the first black president in the United States of America.

Long after his Presidency comes to an end, it all comes down to the simple things; family, a shared meal and laughter.
