Obama will visit us Governor Rasanga

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga says he is still optimistic of U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit of his ancestral village of Kogelo in Siaya County.

Speaking during the official launch of Siaya County Cultural and Tourism Expo on Thursday, Governor Rasanga said he will be travelling to Nairobi to convince President Obama to visit Siaya.

“As far as I am concerned, I know there is still room for President Obama to come to Siaya. Do you always announce to people when you are going to your home? No, you don’t,” said Rasanga.

However, he said there is no love lost if Obama fails to visit the county.

“If he does not come to Siaya, it’s still fine because he refers to Kenya as the home of his father.”

He added that he has been invited, alongside other Governors, by President Uhuru Kenyatta to meet with Obama.

The Siaya Governor said that he will officially invite President Obama to Siaya and ask him to help in funding some projects in the area.

Rasanga also pointed out that he will use Mama Sarah Obama’s influence to convince the American leader to visit Siaya.

“I will also ask for Mama Sarah’s assistance in convincing her grandson to visit us. He can easily board one of his choppers to Siaya for a brief session with the residents,” added Rasanga.

Siaya residents are also hopeful that President Obama will visit them.
