Ochilo Ayacko supporter hospitalised following chaos in Migori

One supporter of Migori County gubernatorial aspirant Ochilo Ayacko is recuperating at Lake Side Hospital after his team was attacked by youths on Saturday night at Sori Centre in Nyatike as they were returning from the campaign trail.

Nyatike OCPD Dishon Chebaka said Ochilo Ayako’s supporters were singing pro-Ochilo songs as they were passing Sori town when a group of youths started pelting them with stones.

Chebaka said a supporter of one of the two factions was forced to fire in the air to disperse the warring groups.

According to the OCPD, the person who was hospitalized was either hit with a stone or a metallic object and not a bullet as has been rumoured.

The police boss said that they are yet to establish a political motive for the attack, adding that investigation is ongoing.

Chebaka appealed to politicians to embrace tolerance during their campaigns to avoid violence, adding that political zoning is unacceptable.

He also urged politicians to tame their supporters and avoid inciting them against their opponents.

Meanwhile, political temperatures in the county is soaring as ODM primaries scheduled for April 21 approach, with aspirants intensifying their campaigns to woo voters.
