Octopizzo applauds Akombe for resigning from the IEBC
Kenyan rapper Octopizzo applauded Dr Roselyn Akombe on her resignation from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wednesday, in a tweet.
“People like Roselyn Akombe are the reason I take my daughters and sisters to school and teach them braver,” the Hip Hop star tweeted.
Akombe resigned from the IEBC just seven days to the October 26 repeat presidential election after stating that it was impossible for the commission to conduct free and credible elections.
“In its current state it can surely not guarantee a credible election on 26 October 2017,” Dr Akombe said.
She also called upon the commission to be honest with Kenyans and admit that chances of a credible presidential election being held on October 26 are slim, if not impossible, given the current composition of the electoral agency.
“We need the commission to be courageous and speak out, that this election as planed cannot meet the basic expectations of a credible election. Not when the commissioners and staff are intimidated by political actors and protestors and fear for their lives,” she added.
Dr. Roselyn Akombeis is currently staying in the U.S., where she is a citizen.
