Odinga calls on police boss to investigate murder of aspiring MCAs kids

Opposition leader, Raila Odinga, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, to personally follow up on investigations into the murder of children of Kapsoya KANU MCA aspirant, James Ratemo.

Ratemo’s three children went missing after they attended a church service at Eldoville SDA Church in Kapsoya, Eldoret on Saturday.

The bodies of the first two children were found and taken to the mortuary on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on phone, Mr Ratemo said they retrieved the body of his third child from River Nzoia Friday morning.

Now Odinga wants Boinnet to expedite investigations into the brutal killing of the three children and make public the progress and findings of the probe.

“For the sake of the children of Kenya, the Inspector General of Police must take up the matter of these three children; Clifford Nyambane, Dan Nyamweya and Glen Ongagi – personally and keep the people of Kenya updated on progress until the culprit is apprehended and justice is done. Kenyans must join hands in demanding justice for these three children,” said Odinga.

Odinga also condoled with the family of Ratemo, saying “he hopes the murder of the three children was not politically motivated”.

“My heart and prayers go out this morning to Mr. James Ratemo’s and Ms. Ebby Esaji whose three children have been found murdered after going missing for a couple of days. My heart breaks for this family,” said Odinga.

“It is my hope that the children were not killed because of the political activities of their father.  No child should pay for the crimes, real or imagined, of their parents. We labour in vain if politics only leads to the murder of the very children we are hoping to make the country a better place for,” added the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential flag bearer.
