I have nothing to do with IEBC tenders Raila Odinga

The National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-principal Raila Odinga has slammed a section of Jubilee leaders who claim that he is responsible for the single sourcing of a Ksh3.8 billion IEBC tender, terming them as ‘nonsensical’.

Speaking during a Jubilee Party (JP) rally in Malindi on Sunday 26, majority leader Aden Duale had asked the former premiere to come clean over the much-talked single sourcing of the Ksh3.8 billion election management system to a French Company, Safran Identity Limited, claiming that its owners are ‘close allies’ of Mr Odinga and therefore this could be a sabotage of the much awaited August Polls’ credibility.

However, in a statement to the press on Monday, Mr Odinga stated that he has nothing to do with matters IEBC and their tendering processes, accusing Jubilee leaders of engaging in a ‘commercial fight’ to have their interests and having their beneficiaries awarded the controversial Electoral Commission tender.

In March 24, IEBC awarded the voter-identification-and-transmission-of-results-tender to the French company, just two days after cancelling that of South Africa’s Gemalto.

“The Commission has very limited time left to comply with the legal timelines in relation to deployment of ICTs in elections. Safran has undertaken to deliver the technology within the statutory timelines,” IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati said, outlining the reasons behind their move.

Claims that Gemalto has since came out refuting insisting that; “We do have a track record of successful deliveries of large scale projects including election related solutions within challenging lead times”.

The opposition kingpin now says that he is accustomed to being blamed by the Uhuru-led administration as cover up of the regime’s  ‘sins, failures and personal interests’.
