The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party wants an explanation from six members of the Nyamira County Assembly for supporting a motion that led to the ouster of Deputy Speaker Maosa Duke Omoti.

The members are; Leader of Majority Duke Masira, Abel Mose, Carolyn Mogere, Monicah Mwamba, Damaris Muoni and George Morara.

The MCAs are now expected to show cause in writing as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them within seven days.

The letters, signed by party chairman John Mbadi, accuse the MCAs of supporting the motion for Omoti’s ouster “even after being advised by the National Party Office to withdraw said motion and allow the party to convene a meeting of all ODM MCAs to ventilate on the issue(s) you had raised.”

“Your conduct and open defiance of a party directive is a gross violation of Article 5(3) of the Party Constitution and the Party’s Code of Conduct that you signed.”
