ODM leader Raila Odinga says COVID-19 cannot stop reggae

ODM leader Raila  Odinga has said the COVID-19 disease ‘cannot stop reggae’ and Kenyans should prepare for a referendum as the coronavirus will soon be tamed.

Speaking during an interview at his home in Karen, Mr. Odinga likened the disruption of the Building Bridges Initiative to half-time during a football match.

Wako karibu kumaliza kazi yao.”

According to the former Prime Minister, the team tasked to put together the BBI report is still at work and they will be completing it in good time.

He said there are three phases of presentation of the report: 1) to the National Government for implementation  2) to Parliament for new laws and 3) to Kenyans for a referendum.

The ODM leader expressed confidence that the coronavirus pandemic will be tamed adding that researchers around the world are working day and night to find a solution.

He was however categorical that even as the government issues directives on social distance and hand hygiene, vulnerable Kenyans particularly in urban areas must be cushioned before a decision on a lockdown is effected.

Mr. Odinga noted that food security is a key priority especially in informal settlements and their situation must be prioritised.
