ODM postpones Nakuru West nomination exercise

ODM postpones Nakuru West nomination exercise

ODM Nakuru Town West Constituency primaries have been postponed indefinitely after the names of two parliamentary aspirants missed in the ballot paper.

Party members had as early as 6.00am thronged the branch offices located in Kaptembwa Ward but party officials, led by branch chairman Peter ole Osono, announced that the exercise had been postponed after the anomaly was noted.

Of the eight parliamentary aspirants for the Nakuru Town West seat on an ODM ticket, the names of Erick Ogada and Luka Ogetti were missing.

Ole Osono said that an election official has been moving around in town demanding bribes from candidates but was quick to point out that the party will not condone such behavior.

He said that ODM was committed to ensuring fair primaries are conducted not only in Nakuru County but also in the entire country.

Oganda, who spoke to Citizen Digital after the exercise was postponed, said that it was unfortunate that his name was missing yet he had paid all the requisite fees to the party.

He called on the party headquarters to move with speed to rectify the anomaly and ensure a new nomination date is set.

On his part, Ogetti said that some officials of the party were not sincere and are bent on ensuring that a candidate of their choice makes it.

He said the ODM national elections board should ensure that the exercise upon commencement is carried out in a free, fair and transparent manner.

The nomination exercise is ongoing in other areas of Nakuru County.
