ODM puts disloyal officials on notice

The ODM party has put officials perceived to be serving the interests of other parties in Ugenya constituency on notice, saying they should willingly relinquish their positions or be forcefully removed.

ODM Ugenya Constituency Chairman Mr Darlington Ombayo Mduda said they have noticed that some of their officials are currently serving the interests of other parties and warned that it will not be allowed.

The chairman cited the example of some party officials who are still paying allegiance to area MP David Ochieng yet he had publicly announced that he will not defend his seat on an ODM ticket.

Mr Mduda, who was speaking in Ukwala during a meeting with the party delegates and all aspiring candidates for various elective posts in the region, took the opportunity to tell off some of the aspirants who claim to have already secured party tickets ahead of ODM nominations.

He stated that ODM as a party has no preferred candidate for any position in that region as perceived by some candidates, noting that the party primaries will be free and fair.

The chairman challenged the aspirants to ensure they work hard to marshal support from the electorate because the party certificate will only be given to winners.

Ugenya parliamentary hopefuls Francis Owino and Chris Karan who attended the meeting also laughed off their counterparts who claim to be close to CORD leader Raila Odinga, noting that the winners will be determined through votes and not through how close one is to the party leader.

At the meeting, the aspirants vowed to work with the party officials to rally their supporters to register as voters and as ODM party members to ensure success of those two exercises, which are currently on-going.
