ODM Secretary General summoned over Raila-Kalonzo ticket statement

ODM Secretary General summoned over Raila-Kalonzo ticket statement

The National Super Alliance (NASA) National Coordination Committee has now summoned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, Agnes Zani, and her ANC counterpart, Godfrey Osotsi, over their remarks in the ongoing NASA flag-bearer debate.

Committee members James Orengo, Johnstone Muthama and Eseli Simiyu have raised concern over exchange of words by Zani and Osotsi amid internal turmoil over looming NASA flag-bearer selection.

Orengo terms Zani’s statements confirming a leaked NASA line up of Raila Odinga – Kalonzo Musyoka ticket as personal opinion as NASA official position is released by committee co-chairs or principals.

According to Zani, the NASA National Coordinating Committee (NCC) had reached on Raila Odinga as the presidential flag-bearer with Kalonzo Musyoka as the running mate.

Zani had also intimated that Musalia Mudavadi would become the Chief Minister should NASA clinch the presidency while Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, would be appointed the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Zani’s sentiments have not gone well with the opposition leaders with Kalonzo now demanding that she withdraws them and apologizes publicly.

Kalonzo has denied claims by Zani that the four united opposition outfit principals had already chosen the presidential ticket for the August poll following recommendations from their technical committee and wants Zani to apologize.

Speaking after meeting Nairobi Wiper aspirants, he accused a section of NASA of being hell-bent on causing internal divisions.

His position has been backed by NASA co-principal and ANC party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, who says anyone claiming there’s a NASA lineup is making a personal opinion, as none has been agreed upon.

Kalonzo similarly adds Wiper will establish NASA strongholds before agreeing to conduct joint nominations within NASA.

The NASA coordinating committee co-chairs have downplayed reports of a split among NASA parties ODM, Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya, with Eseli and Muthama saying their mandate is almost done.
